Linklaters has launched the European Data Protected 2008 overview

The new 2008 edition of Linklaters’ Data Protected, the most comprehensive summary of European data protection legislation, is now available online. Raidla Lejins & Norcous has contributed to the Estonian chapter of the overview.

The new report contains a fully updated review of data protection legislation in each European Member State together with the European Economic Area States (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) as well as Switzerland. It features: 

•           an in-depth article on the meaning of personal data;  

•           updated content to reflect major changes to data protection laws in Luxembourg, Spain and Switzerland;  

•           new content including questions on the acceptance of binding corporate rules, appointment of data protection officers, security requirements and notice of breach laws; and  

•           links to national regulators' websites and national legislation for each jurisdiction.
