| The RoschierRaidla Baltic Business Law Conference is an annual event that analyses developments in the economies and business sectors in the Nordic/Baltic region. Each year, the event is hosted by a different RoschierRaidla jurisdiction, and each year it focuses on the most important and topical issues of the day. To deliver an insider’s perspective on these issues, the conference provides insights from top opinion leaders and recognized experts and practitioners from various fields including – economists, legal professionals, representatives of the State, business practitioners and financial advisors. |
This is the fifth year for the conference and this year it is organised in Tallinn, Estonia. The conference takes place at a challenging moment. Many believe that the great recession has done its worst. In the Baltic region, the impact has been severe and no doubt has altered the dynamic for attracting foreign investment to the region. But few have been bold enough to predict what will come next for the Baltic/Nordic region. This year the conference will address this question with a focus on the transactions market.
Historically, the Baltic region has served as a gateway between east and west. We believe that this metaphor may provide a clue to understand emerging trends now as well. Therefore, we have organized the conference into two main sections. One will look at the Baltic economies and M&A markets from a western perspective, and the second will do the same from an eastern perspective. This will allow us to gain a wide range of expert views and considered opinions from major European centres including those from Scandinavia, Germany and Britain as well as from Russia.
Presentations will be delivered by Mr. Juhan Parts, Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, Mr. Jan Olsson from Deutsche Bank, Mr. Erkki Raasuke from Swedbank Group, Mr. Ulf-Henrik Kull, the managing partner of the leading law firm in the Nordic countries – Roschier, key specialists from the investments field – Mr. Henrik Igasta from SEB Enskilda, Mr. Viljar Arakas from EfTEN Capital, Mr. Gert Tiivas from East Capital Explorer and Mr. Aare Tammemäe from Redgate Capital.
Investment potential from the East will be analysed by Mr. Mikhail Kazantsev from the largest law firm in Russia - Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners, Mr. Raivo Vare from Estonian Development Fund as well as opinion leaders with profound experience in business with the East - Mr. Joakim Helenius from Trigon Capital, Mr. Fjodor Berman from BLRT Group, Mr. Urmas Sõõrumaa from U.S. Invest and Mr. Tiit Vähi from Silmet Group/Port of Sillamäe.
A comparative overview on investment perspectives from the west and the east will be provided by Mr. Stephen Denyer, the global markets partner in Allen & Overy – law firm with worldwide operations in 34 countries.
